MRS. LEWIS IS DEAD

 ALEXANDRIA WOMAN PASSED AWAY IN CHICAGO LAST EVENING

After a long illness, Mrs Alice Lewis, wife of Edward Lewis, of this city died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Daisy Coy, 5100 Pensacola avenue, Chicago.  Mrs. Lewis went to Chicago several months ago for treatment and to be with her children, who live there, during her illness.  She submitted to an operation several weeks ago, but obtained no relief, and has steadily been sinking.  Mr. Lewis has been in Chicago for some time.  Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, one son Ray Long, and two daughters.  Mrs. Daisy Coy and Mrs. Dessie Freeborn all of Chicago.  She was a member of the Methodist church here, and of the local chapter of the Order Eastern star.  The body will be brought to the family home at 307 South West street Thursday afternoon, but the arrangements for the funeral will not be completed until that time.




BODY ARRIVED HOME TODAY
Funeral of Mrs. Edward Lewis Will be Announced Friday.

Accompanied by relatives from Chicago, where she died Tuesday night after an extended illness, the body of Mrs. Edward Lewis, of this city, reached Elwood this afternoon.  It was met there by J. F. Merker and brought to the family residence on South West street.  The arrangements for the funeral will be announced tomorrow.  The services will be held in the Methodist church.





MRS. A. B. PHILLIPS DEAD

Mrs. A. BZ Phillips, 75, mother of  S.G. Phillips, of the Alexandria bank, died this morning at 3 o'clock at her home in Muncie following an attack of paralysis.  She had been in failing health for several months.  Mr. Phillips was called to Muncie this morning but the arrangements for the funeral have not been announced.




HOLD FUNERAL ON SATURDAY
Burial of Mrs Phillips Will Be in Muncie Cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips, wife of A. B. Phillips of Muncie, and mother of S.G. Phillips, of this city, will be held at the family residence in Muncie Saturday afternoon, and burial will be in Beech Grove cemetery there.  Mrs. Phillips, who was 77 years of age, was born in Wayne County, near Economy, but had lived in Muncie for about thirty years.  She and Mr. Phillips were married 52 years ago.





DEATH OF MRS. BROWN.

Mrs. Mary Brown, wife of Henry Brown, 1512 North Lincoln avenue, died Saturday night at 11 o'clock after a lingering illness of dropsy.  she was 60 years of age, and one of the best known and most popular colored women of the city.  She was a member of the Baptist church in Riverview and a faithful worker, and is survived by her husband, two sons and one daughter.  The funeral will be held at the church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Rev. Ewell officiating .  burial in I.O.O. F. cemetery


BROWN FUNERAL TODAY.

This afternoon is the Second Baptist church in Riverview funeral services were held over the body of Mrs. Henry Brown, one of the best known colored women in the city.  Rev. Mr. Ewell, of Anderson, was in charge, and burial followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery.



TWO WOMEN SHOT TO DEATH

In a Quarel Over The Conduct of Some Children.

Wellston,O., Oct 28--Two women, one soon to become a mother, were shot to death today at Jackson in what police say was a neighborhood quarrel over the conduct of children.  James Cochrane is held without bail pending investigation.  According to police, Cochrane, the father of nine children, alleged that his children were being imposed upon.  Mrs. Betts, a neighbor and Mrs. Colley are dead.



FUNERAL AT SUMMITVILLE

This morning at Summitville, the funeral of the late L.O. Haysworth, one of the oldest residents of that city, was held.  the body was taken to the Olive Branch cemetery near Matthews for burial

JOHNSON FUNERAL TODAY

This afternoon at the family residence, 1410 West Monroe street, Rev. Francis Faust conducted funeral services over the body of the late Andrew Johnson, is the presence of a large number of friends and acquaintances.  Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
