MOTHER-IN-LAW
OFFICIAL IS DEAD

Marion, Ind., Oct 1--Mrs. William E. Hogin, 59, mother of Mrs. Uz McMurtie, wife of the state treasurer of Indiana, is dead at her home here following a long illness.


LAPEL MAN DIES

Lapel, Ind., Oct 4--John D Julian, age 77, a veteran of the Civil war and old time resident of Stonycreek township, died at his home here last evening.  He leaves a widow and four children.



DEATHS and FUNERALS

CHARLES RIFE
Word has been received here of the death of Charles H Rife, age 50, formerly of Florida, north of here, who died at Hartford City.  He was stricken with paralysis last week.  He is survived by two brothers, William Rife of this city, and George Rife of Hartford City;  two sisters, Mrs. James Gooding of Lafayette Township, and Miss Virginia Rife of this city.  The funeral will be held at Hartford City, Friday, with burial in West Maplewood cemetery here.

MRS. MARY BIGLEY

Mrs. Mary Bigley an inmate of the Madison county infirmary, died this morning.  The funeral was held this afternoon.

INFANT SNYDER

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder of 1512 Locust street, died last night.  Burial occurred this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in St. Mary's cemetery.

BECRAFT CHILD

Norma Violet Becraft, the nineteen months old child of Mr. and Mrs. William Becraft of 850 Meridian avenue, North Anderson, died last night.  The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m.






MRS MARY JETT DROPPED DEAD

Mrs. H. M. Jett of 373 Meridian avenue, North Anderson, received word Sunday evening from her son, W. E. Jett of Portland, Ore., stating that his wife dropped dead at 2:15 p.m. Sunday.  Mrs. Jett  formerly was Mary Cook, daughter of W.L. Cook, recently of Anderson.







HEART DISEASE CAUSE OF DEATH

Mrs. Effretta Shuflebarger, age 42, died of valvular heart disease at 7:30 o'clock this morning at the family home, 2208 Jackson street.  The funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Mrs. Shuflebarger had been ill for about a week.  She is survived by her husband, Ernest Shuflebarger, one son, Ralph Thornburg, a sister, Mrs. Lew Palmer and her mother, Mrs. Wharton.
